My name is Donna Wizinsky and I am a teacher at Coolidge Elementary School.  As an educator, I worked for five years as a general education teacher and nine years working as a special education teacher in a variety of settings. I worked here at Coolidge during the 2013-14 school year and last year as well!

I attended the University of Michigan- Dearborn earning a degree in Elementary Education with Language Arts and Science endorsements and I hold a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Oakland University with an endorsement in Autism.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “The secret in education lies in respecting the student.” This quote embodies my personal educational philosophy. I believe in creating an environment in my classroom where students feel safe and comfortable, providing them with learning opportunities that make the most of each student’s personal strengths and learning styles. I enjoy helping students develop solid life skills that ensure their individual success in school as well as in their own lives.

About me:
I have been a proud Livonia resident for the past 20 years. My husband and I will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in March of 2018.  We have two sons  who are graduates of Livonia Public Schools, leading successful adult lives.  Our oldest son is 26 and has served for the past seven years on active duty in the US Navy.  He married a fellow sailor and they have two beautiful daughters, who are three and one.  Our youngest son is 24, works full time as a CNC Machinist, and has owned his own home in Milford for the past two years. We also have a daughter attending Franklin High School in our district.   She plays trumpet and french horn.  She has been involved with the Marching Band since eighth grade and this past summer, she toured and performed with Shadow, a Drum Corps International (DCI) corps.

She has a great love for music.

Personally, I find great joy in teaching and I consider it to be my vocation.  I enjoy being active, running, camping and spending time with my family.  I am a huge Dr. Who fan and I love learning new things!  I am proud of the things we do here at Coolidge Elementary School! I look forward to a great year of learning and growing!
